Matt Driscoll started in planning in 2003 while studying for a degree in Environmental Planning at Anglia Ruskin University. He worked for 14 years at Essex and Kent based consultant, The JTS Partnership LLP. Having worked up to an Associate level, Matt moved on to GL Hearn between 2017 and 2019 as an Associate Director, specialising in high-density residential development. After returning to JTS between 2019 and 2021, Matt took up a role as Planning Manager at Tailored Living Solutions and subsequently started MJD Planning.
Matt is a knowledgeable professional with over eighteen years of experience working as a planning consultant within Essex, London and the wider south-east region. He has a proven track record of delivering a range of complex planning projects both at JTS, at GL Hearn and at TLS. These projects have varied from small extensions to dwellings and certificates of lawful use, to major residential and commercial developments.
While having worked on a number of significant projects within London and other urban areas in recent years, his experience working within Brentwood for most of his career means that Matt’s expertise and where he remains closely aligned is the Green Belt. He has a very good understanding of what is achievable and the case that can be made to support or object to proposals within this area.
Matt started MJD Planning in 2021, and enjoys working closely with clients and promoting development projects throughout the UK. In addition to advising on strategic and technical planning matters, Matt can also coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams; prepare project programmes (planning process); provide site appraisals; undertake planning appeal casework, and advise and lead planning obligation negotiation and CIL advice.
